New Security Protocol at Cobo Center
Posted On: Aug 03, 2016

In order to provide for a safe and secure environment for our employees, clients and guests; access control is an essential security function. Security must be free to challenge anyone appearing out of place or in a location inconsistent with existing circumstances. This may at times involve challenging Cobo Center

employees. Security personnel have been instructed to do so in a courteous and professional manner.

Accordingly, the Cobo Center Employee Facility Identification Protocol program as outlined below will be effective immediately:

  • ?  All Cobo Center employees and contractors should be made aware that they are required to display their employee identification at all times.

  • ?  All Cobo Center employees and contractors should be made aware that they are required to present identification when asked by any security representative.

  • ?  All Cobo Center employees and contractors should be made aware that identification issued by Cobo Center remains the property of Cobo Center and may be confiscated by any management or security representative.

  • ?  All Cobo Center employees and contractors should be made aware that refusal to cooperate with security personnel or refusal to comply with any reasonable and lawful request will result in disciplinary action.

  • ?  Encourage all Cobo Center employees to contact Security Operations at 313- 877-8262 if they observe any person who appears to be displaying unusual behavior. Callers should be prepared to give a detailed location, description of the person and the persons behavior.

Security personnel simply must make every reasonable attempt to know who is in the facility and take action to remove those with no legitimate purpose who may represent a threat to the safety and/or security of persons or property. In addition, safety and security is every employee's responsibility and it is reasonable to expect all employees to cooperate with the security department in our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment.

    Thank you
    Diane Y. Calliway
Director of Human Resources & Administrative Services Cobo Center
